I was going to make a rather unnecessary comment about the drug dealer
supplying you giving you some bad shit but I'll just say that price
seems a bit high for that bike. But I'm on the east coast. There isn't
*that* much of a difference between the coasts, is there?

For what it's worth, I saw a '94 CR-500 for $2,499 at Two Wheel
World in Garland today. Right next to it was an '00 YZ-250 for $2,699
or $2,899 (can't remember for sure). I'd pay the difference.

You and I think alike. There are a few in NC that show up from time to time
that are about half that price.

Yeah, but they don't have only two hours on the motor, do they? Did you read
the part about the new tire? What's wrong with you? My guess is that you
east coast guys don't rebuild motors and you just toss the bike when it
loses too much compression. Of course you'd only pay $1400 for a '96 with
it's orginal piston and air filter.

So, let me get this straight... Only 2 hours on the motor makes it worth
almost double? Oh, yeah, the tire. So, a top end job and new tire costs
that much? Wow, I guess us east coast guys should toss the motor when it
loses compression if it costs that much in maintenance.

I'm running out first thing tomorrow and stocking up on tires and pistons
before the shops catch on.

I know where a nice one is that I could probably nuy for $1500-$2000.
It may not be quite as "fresh" as Sterling's though. You about can't
give a large bore 2 stroke away around here.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Maybe there's some (alledged) "exclusivity" or desirability now that they're
no longer available that makes people think they can jack the price up and
get it?

Call the guy up and tell him to put a $120 top end in it and he can
get another $800 for it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

This is America, he could possibly get $3800.00 for it! My friend sold his
90 something Yamaha YZ125 that was trashed for $1800.00 and the guy just
whipped out the cash and paid. I think the bike might of been worth about
$400-$500?

Actually his probably doesn't need anything (well maybe tires) at the
moment. It's just not new born fresh. Smile<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

That bike is perfect for somebody, and the price is whatever they are
willing to pay. Some of us are just a little more discriminating than
others...

And if its like most bikes I've seen at 2 wheel world(rode very hard with a
rider that didn't know anything about maintenance, or actually didn't even
suspect anything about maintenance) I wouldn't give half of what they were
asking. In fact, its not just 2 wheel world, it's basically all used dirt
bikes. I'd be willing to bet that at least 75% of people that buy dirt
bikes never turn a wrench. They probably don't even own a wrench.

The guy who owns the one I know about, doesn't turn any wrenchs... he
pays people to turn them for him. His used bikes are not a risk. If he
tell you what it is, that's what it is.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
