Before you do any of that, try swapping out the lines for braided
stainless lines. The stock rubber lines swell a bit when under pressure
and the stainless lines don't. Normally makes a huge difference in
feel. If that's not enough, change out your brake pads for a better
compound like EBC pads.
Then if that's not enough, start throwing bigger money at it, but before
I spent a ton on PM calipers (like I have done in the past) I'd go here:
http://www.fabkevin.com/home.htm and talk to FabKevin about some
sportbike caliper adapters and calipers for your front end. He usually
has that stuff in stock, you'll probably save some money, and Kevin's a
hell of a guy. He cut me some steel adapters that enabled me to put six
piston Tokico calipers on my bike and they would damn near stand the
bike on it's nose.
