Transport Express and Allied Van Lines, anybody have experiences (good
or bad) lately with these companies?.

Could sb suggest another company?

Thanks

north american van lines are good, they strap it to a pallet. pallet and
straps are included in shipping cost. very reasonable also.

Troy,
I'm waiting on a quote from Van Lines
Polarhound, Bryan,
I just checked Forward Air's website. Looks really good. However the
seller is not willing to take it to the terminal...

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted.

Forward Air has specialized steel motorcycle shipping crates available
for use. Many people have had good luck with them.

I had an old suzuki shipped from Sacramento to SLC, about $400. On time, no
problems, had to go their terminal to pick it up though. And seller had to
deliver to their terminal.

I would use them again.

Too bad, I guess the seller doesn't to sell. I assume you are paying
shipping, or splitting the difference.

But ForwardAir really works.

There are other options for you:

1. Call the Forward Air office at the shipper's end and ask about PUD
(Pickup and Delivery) service. Every airport (which Forward Air
terminals are always near) has a multitude of 3rd party truckers that
handle pickups and deliveries for trucking companies and airlines. I
would be surprised if the local Forward Air office could not arrange
and/or recommend a trucker. These costs can often be tacked right onto
the airbill.

2. Most local motorcycle shops have at least one flatbed or box truck
and can possibly pick up the bike and bring it to Forward Air. For
example, the dealer I work for has 2 flatbeds, 2 box trucks and 2
pickups. Of course, we also handle 17 product lines Smile

3. Although ACI (Air Cargo Incorporated) folded in 12/04, most every
airline cargo dock still has trucking companies they deal with and
trust. Call a couple of the local airline cargo docks and ask for
recommendations on truckers.

Based on my 10 years in the air cargo industry, I'll bet you probably
won't have to go past option #1 Smile

Ride it? A one way bus ticket shouldn't cost that much.
