Hi Guys,

I recentally purchased an 89 CR250. My question is:

The rear shock seems a little springy. IE not much rebound dampning.
My climer manual kinda sucks in that it doesent say for sure but I dont
think there is a rebound dampning screw. Also, the compression dampning
is 3 clicks from max. If I back it out much it gets really soft, and I
only weigh 145lbs. Basically it wants to endo when I jump it unless I
really hang my weight way back, which makes control more dificult. IS
this shock serviceable? How should I adjust it? Could it need more gas
and less compression damp? ETC

Thanks.

The back end kicking up on jumps is a classic sign that your rear shock
has ceased to perform any rebound dampening at all (assuming your not
chopping the throttle off the face of the jump). It's probably time to
send it off for a rebuild. At the same time, you can have it valved and
set up for your weight and riding skills. There are dozens of suspension
company's that will do this, I'm sure people will chime in with thier
personal favorites.

Gotta agree with Eric. Once upon a time I purchased a used '89 CR250
and it was doing the samething you described. Sent mine to Factory
Connection and they rebuilt it and it worked great for the 5 years I
owned it. There are many places that will do the rebuild...shop around.
