I loved the 2007 RC212V... The rear tire huger, the tail, the near
naked body work...

And I like the front fairing on the 2008 RC212V also.

Am I too easily pleased??

As much as I think the 2007 212 was a big mistake, you do have to hand
it to Honda for making something that looked different, even though it
really didn't look like what one thinks of as a GP race bike. My issue
in part is it actually looks like what it was - look at this picture
of Pedrosa - http://www.roadracingworld.com/enlarge/?section=news&image=688
- and slice that bike in two horizontally. To me the bottom half
loooks like a MotoGP machine, but the top half looks like a 250 or -
dare I say it - a 125. Which, when you think about it, is kind of what
was intended...

I like the look of it in this picture:

Particularly those pipes with the short, sharp tail piece.

I kind of like the more minimalist fairing and the fact it looks like a cafe
racer. It's edgy. Truly looks kit-like, stuck together with parts. But I
very much doubt it will make it like that to next season - the aerodynamics
look atrocious. Then again, you can't judge that just by the eye.

Reminds me of an Egli bike (if you can't remember Egli you're not worthy of
getting your memory refreshed Smile I saw in the 80s. Looked horrid in the
magazines, when I saw it live I drooled all over the craftmanship even
though it looked pieced together a tad randomly.

And let me state I am actually not a big fan -design-wise- of the winning
Ducati, even though obviously it is a great bike. Overly streamlined and
slippery bikes look boring to me. Give me edgier looks anytime. On my flight
back from a business trip I was reading about the test rides on the Ducati
$70k MotoGP replica. It looked boring to me. I bet the craftmanship is
something else. but it didn't translate to the pictures, where it looked
kind of bulgy and over-faired.

But Hayden said, "the general feeling was pretty good" after he first
tried it, and Pedrosa said, "The feel of the new bike is quite different
in terms of the riding position. From the outside it looks bigger - and
it is a bit bigger but it's still OK for me."

Looks terrible, feels good, a bit big for Dani-boy. Hmm, does that make
it a pussybike?
