HI a buddy has a 1994 Kawasaki KDX 400 four stroke and is trying to
get his carb straightened out. After replacing the float needle and
seat, he replaced the float and set it level to the carb body. Testing
the float statically with the bowl off, the fuel appeared to shut of
as you raised the float toward the body, with still 1/4" to go. After
installing the carb on the engine and turning the fuel on, the carb
pisses fuel out of the overflow tube suggesting the float level is too
high. Any ideas where to set the float height?

Thanks!

That sounds more like a problem in the choke or
idle circuit. If the float needle is really able to shut
the fuel off you should be able to drop the float
height a little bit at a time until it's below the overflow
tube height.

start.

PMFJI, maybe it's just something dumb and simple, eg., could it be that
after he installed it on the bike, some 'dirt' got stuck in the float
seat? Some people say grabbing the seat from behind, lifting the rear
and bouncing the bike might help dislodge some blockage or other -
although I haven't seen that work. Or, maybe he forgot to tighten the
float drain screw (that is, if there is one on that carb', couldn't find
it on bikebandit).
