I am working on a 1983 goldwing with 29,000 miles on it. I pulled the plugs
on it to do a tune-up and the plugs were a black velvet color, did the
tune up took it for a spin then pulled the plugs and they were still a
black velvet, pulled the carbs apart and all the air cut off valves had
holes in them, replaced them all with carb rebuild kits except needle and
seat, still the plugs are black velvet. called and talked to a couple of
people and they suggested the carbs be sent off to be cleaned in a
ultrasonic machine, was wondering if you had any other suggestions I am at
my ropes end. I work on bikes as a hobby but this one has me puzzled.

I had the same problem on my 860 GTS Bevel.
I put it down to poor compression and bad riding technique.
I was always heavy on the gas - and pushing the engine hard, getting my
cheap thrills aroound town, so to speak..
So I was always accelerating (rich mixture)
Yes it has acellerator pumps on the delortos also - so squirting lots of
juice into the pots frequently as well

- so the end result was it alwayss ran rich

So maybe your compression?? its pulling a lot of weight there....A
slight reduction in compresion MAY case that throtttle to be open futher
than normal

Replacing fork seals on M600 - Hi all, I am just about to replace the fork seals on my M600 (long overdue) but have a couple of questions: 1. Is there a foolproof way of supporting the bike. Without a centre stand, it seems problematic to get the weight off the front wheel 2. Are..
