Push in on the caps with something like a large screwdriver, then pop
out the circlip using a small flathead.... release slowly so things
don't fly anywhere Smile

You're trying to put XJ650 forks on a Virago? What year and model Virago?

The 1981 XJ650 had a circlip underneath a cap and you have to remove the
circlip to get the blank plug out and then the springs pop up.

If you are "upgrading" to Progressive springs, be aware that the extra coils
take up more space than the stock sheet metal spacer or the stock spring if
there is no spacer, so the amount of fork oil in the manual will be wrong and
Progressive doesn't know either, they never installed their springs in every
model they offer springs for.

You have to find the correct oil level by trial and error when using
Progressive springs.
