Post subject: 1978 Yamaha YZ125 Tech Question
Archived from groups: alt>motorcycles>yamaha (more info?)

My son has a 1978 Yamaha YZ125 and we're not getting a big enough spark.
We think it's the high voltage magneto coil as it's only producing 60 volts
AC and some said it should be about 120. Are we measuring the right volts,
e/g/ AC not DC, The coil has 510 Ohm resistance which seems to be in spec?
The coil has "601A 3" stamped on it.
Can anyone help us with throwing some light on this please.
