I have swapped out the motor in my "74 Honda 550f. The new motor is
said to be a "76, but I didn't see the bike it came out of. The
original motor number is like CB550E-103xxx and the new one is
CB550E-108xxx. My question is can I just plug the '76 stator /
neutral / oil press motor plug into the '74 bike wire harness? Would
It hurt anything electrical on the bike if the wires were crossed and
I just hauled off and put a battery to the bike without knowing? >> Stay informed about: 1974 Honda 550four |

Because it wasn't a stupid question like: "Where can I find a spare part
for my Honda?".

Ah. No wonder you post here, then. And nobody mentioned 'smart alec'
stuff. Wit is wit, had you the wit to appreciate it. You do try to be
witty, but it never works, mind. You just don't have the machinery for
it.

I'm with you. The occasional knowledgeable snippets are overwhelmed by
useless insults devoid of any cleverness sounding like they might be
from a former lower bureaucratic functionary who was ostracized by most
congenial people long before forced retirement, perhaps a postal clerk
who was venerated by senile old ladies for advising on the correct
stamps for parcels and who misses that in his enforced idleness. It
seems a shame to me as the crude sarcasm likely deters some gentler
souls from posting their problems here which deprives the more open
thoughtful ones from enjoying those puzzles. A casual visitor might get
the impression that o-g is footing the bill for this group but soon
realize that many of the posts are textbook trolls. My advice is to
treat such posts as trolls, ie., ignore them. I'd bet a review of all
posts here would show that the petty jabs that were ignored reduced the
noise, ie., far fewer pointless rejoinders from o-g. Remember, trolls
hate to be ignored, just like tail-gaters hate it when you slow down
without acknowledging them. Let him get pissed off instead of you
(seems to be his or her natural state in the world anyway). (Sorry for
not following my own advice, my excuse is that every once in a while I
can't resist saying what I think about the anonymous jerks on usenet.
Maybe there is a tech.insults group somewhere where they could get their
rocks off. Thanks, I feel so much better now, no need to reply, anybody.) >> Stay informed about: 1974 Honda 550four |

If you read his home page, you will learn that Neil Murray is a
physically inactive obsessive obese scribbler, he has a compulsion to
write and eat.
I suspect that Neil had a difficult toilet training period and that
his attempts to please his parents by proudly displaying his poop
resulted in their overt expressions of disgust, and Neil has sought
attention ever since by writing sarcastic notes to strangers.
It would be better by far if Neil simply locked himself in the
bathroom for several months and occupied himself by smearing his feces
on the walls while ignoring the dinner bell. >> Stay informed about: 1974 Honda 550four |
